Codice Ivan

Collective, 2008–2015 · Anna Destefanis, Leonardo Mazzi, Benno Steinegger

Codice Ivan is a collective founded in 2008 by Anna Destefanis, Leonardo Mazzi and Benno Steinegger. Its work moves between the performing and the visual arts, and keeps trying out other formats: stage pieces, installations, public art projects, urban actions and video.

In 2009 Pink, Me & The Roses won the Premio Scenario, Italy's leading theatre award for young companies. In the same year Codice Ivan joined Fies Factory, the project with which Centrale Fies supports young Italian companies over the long term. In 2009–2010 We Wanna Be Your Happening explored the relationship between audience and performer, at Raum in Bologna, at Santarcangelo 40° and at the opening of Murate, the new contemporary art centre in Florence.

From 2010 the collective's research turned to happiness and its political value, on stage and outside the theatre. The works have been presented at Drodesera, Beijing Fringe Festival, Vooruit in Ghent, Santarcangelo, Fast Forward, Festival Premieres in Strasbourg, FAR° in Nyon and Museion in Bolzano.

Since 2015 Codice Ivan no longer produces its own work: it continues as an association that supports and promotes art and culture.
